Theme:
The partner Emmaus Parkwijk is a part of the Groene Sticht. It’s a living – work community that also accommodates people. Altogether, the people who are living at the Emmaus do work at the second hand store, which as well includes recycling.
Volunteer work:
The volunteers will help at the second hand store, which includes for example picking up second hand goods, and restore work. In addition to this, they will also work at the biological garden and organize a fest for the district. Working time takes approximately 30 hours a week.
Accommodation:
You will be staying in the Emmaus house. This is a work and living community with a caring part for people whom life there. Volunteers will sleep at an accommodation of Emmaus and the will eat together with the inhabitants of this house. Volunteers will cook together with the Emmaus people.
Bring with you:
A sleeping bag, mat to sleep on, old working clothes, rain is spreading out over the year, so bring warm clothes, a raincoat and a swimming suit!
Wise to bring recipes from your own country, driver’s license that is valid in Netherlands, sunglasses and something on your head against the sun!
Nice to bring with you musical instruments, cd’s, ideas for games and activities.
Strictly forbidden
The fact, that soft drugs are legal in the Netherlands. Some participants an incentive to smoke drugs whenever they want. However, in the past years this fact caused many troubles to the volunteer project and for the other participants, the camp leaders and the partner organization as well. In all our volunteer programs, it is strictly forbidden to use drugs.
