If you want to know more about the emigration policy of Switzerland and see life in the emigrant center for refuges inside and became part of this community for a few weeks, this volunteer workcamp is waiting for you. Theme:

Holiday activities with the children, women and men of the center. The children will be on school holidays during the time of the program so they will be very glad to have you there to organize different types of activities for them. The relationship between the refugees coming from different countries can be tense sometimes.

Hopefully this volunteer program will contribute to a better mutual understanding and respect.

Work:

You`ll organize activities for adults, families and children in this center. A large part of the centers' residents will be single men probably but there will also be families with children. The permanent staff of the center will be there to help you with your work, but you should be prepared to work independently.

One of the part of this program is a general introduction for you about asylum seekers in Switzerland, the transfer center Hegnau and how to deal with the situation in the center on the first day. So it will be great if you come on the first day of the project! You will work about 6-7 hours a day.

Accommodation:

You will live in your own apartment inside the transit center. There are beds, a shower and a kitchen including necessary equipment. You are expected to do the shopping and cooking by yourselves. Better to take with you sleeping bag.

Bring with you:

Games (ideas), musical instruments, swimming suite, information about refugees and their treatment in your country.

Location:

Volketswil is located about 10 kilometers east of Zurich and is a suburban town with around 15’000 inhabitants. The Transit center Hegnau is on a main road, situated on the outskirts of Volketswil, close to a forest and fields.
